According to the Polish border guard, almost 2.24 million people have fled to a safe place in Poland since the Russian attack on Ukraine.
Only on Thursday there were about 32,500 people. This is an increase of 7.4 percent. compared to the day before. About 308,000 people crossed the border from Poland to Ukraine since the beginning of the war on February 24.
Many are returning to the fight in Ukraine
According to earlier information from the border guard, most of these travelers are Ukrainian citizens who are returning to their country. Many men, but also women, want to join the Ukrainian troops there and fight the Russian invader. Others go back to caring for children or dependents in need.
About 3.7 million people have fled Ukraine so far, according to the UN refugee agency. The number was given by the representative of the United Nations in the country of war.
There is no official information about war refugees in Poland
Currently, there is no official information on how many war refugees remained in Poland and how many have already left for other EU countries. Ukraine – the largest country in Europe by area – had a population of over 44 million before the start of the Russian attack. Poland and Ukraine are connected by a state border over 500 kilometers long.
