character challenges

One of the big highlights of this season was the introduction of Soldier Boy, played by Jensen Ackles. An oddity is that the actor has a longstanding friendship with creator, Eric Kripke, as the two worked together on Supernatural. Explaining how he got the role in The Boys, the actor stressed that the famous “nomination” happened.

“In 2020 I called Eric Kripke and told him I was going to be unemployed soon [em referência ao fim de Supernatural]’ he said, laughing, during the press conference. “There he introduced me to the role of the soldier boy.”

About his motivations for playing the character, he emphasizes the importance of a good script. “On this show, the characters are so extreme that we can play them in completely unrealistic contexts. It allows us to experience absurd things that none of us would do in real life. That’s where all the inspiration comes from.” [da qualidade] of scripts.”

It’s from Brazil!

Since launching in 2019, The Boys has garnered fans around the world. And of course Brazil couldn’t be missing. The country was even praised by the cast during the press conference. And it was not for nothing that the Brazilian territories were chosen as the venue for the opening event of the season finale.

Jensen Ackles reiterated that there are good reasons the country was “the chosen one”. “This is due to the intense love that Brazilian fans have for The Boys over the years. From the start you interact with the series, asking us to come to Brazil and giving us so much support that now we just have to thank you for all the affection.”

What makes The Boys different?

Showing the “B” side of superheroes, the series mixes social criticism, brawls and lots of biting humor. The combo itself is an unusual hybrid. However, series creator Eric Kripke highlighted other issues.

In his opinion, what sets The Boys apart from the other productions he’s directed including the series starring Jensen Ackles, Supernatural is the freedom to do things he couldn’t do on regular television networks. “It’s really nice to be able to swear your ass off and make jokes about miniature people getting on huge penises,” he joked.

He also pointed out that despite running one of the most popular series in streaming today, he doesn’t have free access to Amazon’s value pack. “Not even Jeff Bezos has free access to Prime Video,” he joked, referring to the company’s “big boss.”

Unfortunately, the actors couldn’t talk about the events of the last episode or the fourth season, but it’s worth noting that filming for the next wave of episodes will start soon!

The final episode of The Boys Season 3 arrives this Friday (8) on Amazon Prime Video.
