The weekend reserved for the 2022 Saudi Arabian GP has started in Jeddah, second stage of the F1 World Championship. On the eve of Free Practice 2, however, a column of smoke rose in the sky. According to the first reconstructions, it would be the consequences of a terrorist attack that struck the oil factories of Aramco, the Saudi oil giant and sponsor of F1.
As the chronicles report, it is so heard a loud explosion that would have been caused by a rocket being fired about 20 km from the F1 circuit. In recent days, the international broadcaster Al Jazeera had spoken about the attacks of the Huti (a Shiitemajority army backed by Iran, unlike the Sunni Saudis), which had bombed an Aramco facility as well as other sites along the Red Sea coast. Below are the first video images.
