Tom Hanks has had a reputation for being one of the nicest guys in Hollywood for over three decades, and that doesn’t seem to be abating. The actor, an ordained minister, officiated at a wedding ceremony in Pittsburgh over the weekend.
Hanks is in town filming A Man Called Otto, Marc Foster’s adaptation of the Swedish novel A Man Called Ove. While in town, the actor posed for photos with the staff of a Busy Beaver, hit the road at a bridal shower and, in his latest move, joined a couple in holy marriage.
Local couple Krisna and Tyson were aware of Hanks’ ordained status, so Krisna simply sent the star a letter explaining that it had always been her dream to get married in her home and they knew he would be in the city would be… and he said yes.
The couple gave Hanks a casual setting for the ceremony, but the actor added his own flair, which the couple said made it even more special
“It just goes to show that if you write someone a letter you don’t expect them to write back, or if you’re talking to a stranger, they did it for us and they don’t know us, they’ve done us a great service and enriches our lives,” added Tyson. “He’s such a great guy, there’s a level of comfort, he just seems like a best friend you’ve known forever.”

The couple kept the ceremony as quiet as possible, although their son couldn’t help but tell everyone at school.
“His teacher came out and said, ‘I know he’s an honest kid, but did that really happen?'” Krisna said.
And as for the toast? The pair skipped the champagne and went with cider from Pittsburgh favorite Arsenal Cider.
Where will Tom Hanks appear next? Local CBS affiliate KDKA is now officially on Tom Hank’s watch, keeping an eye on the actor being nothing but nice.
