The remains of those killed in an accident in Mexico arrive in Cuba

The Cuban state press has reported that this Friday the remains of nationals who died in an accident in Mexico arrived in Cuba.

The news shocked the Cuban community more than a week ago: a van carrying 18 migrants from Cuba and Nicaragua was involved in an accident that killed three and injured 15.

The Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in Mexico reported two “tragic events related to the irregular smuggling of migrants with the unfortunate result of deaths and other injuries”.

According to Radio Reloj, on a flight from Mexico bringing back a new group of Cuban migrants, “the remains of a 37-year-old woman, her 12-year-old daughter and another 19-year-old youth were also transferred. who died in a traffic accident in the city of Veracruz”.

On the Magnicharters flight, 104 Cubans were deported, including one minor.

According to the information, “after legally leaving Cuba, they ventured on the unsafe journey through third countries”.

It was also announced that “the group was arrested by the Mexican immigration authorities and returned to Cuba in accordance with the migration agreements between the two nations”.

“Upon arrival at José Martí International Airport, they received medical assistance, hygiene protocols were applied and ordinary immigration control was carried out before being taken to their provinces of origin,” the text adds.

The media reports that this is the 30th operation and that 1,370 people have been returned to Cuba.

A Cuban television report insisted that “the United States’ migration policy toward Cuba stimulates illegal and irregular flows.”

“Immigrants are inhumanely subject to human trafficking, face multiple risks, and face discriminatory treatment as a common practice, spurred by Washington’s destabilizing desire against Cuba,” they say.
