Host Jean-Philippe Dion is devastated by the death of Mr Marcotte.
“This is the first time a guest of The True Nature has died. It’s a shock. My thoughts are with Pierre Marcotte’s family and loved ones. I also have a very special thought for the mother of his son Shirley Théroux,” he wrote on his Facebook page on Friday.
This son he had with Shirley Théroux is named Bruno-Pierre. Pierre Marcotte had another son, Pascal, with his first wife, singer Ginette Ravel.
Pierre Marcotte has shone in many shows throughout his long career, including Les tannants, which he co-hosted on Télé-Métropole with Christine Chartrand, Joël Denis, Roger Giguère, Gilles Latulippe, Paolo Noël, Anne Renée and Shirley, among others.
Mr. Marcotte has also done business. He was the owner of the Hélène-de-Champlain restaurant in Parc Jean-Drapeau in Montreal.
He was hailed for his generosity and good humor after announcing his departure Wednesday after complications related to COVID-19 at the University Institute of Cardiology and Pneumology of Quebec. A true gentleman, he was 83 years old and was due to take the stage at the Cabaret du Casino de Montréal in September, surrounded by friends to share anecdotes and memories with good humor, music and humor.
The episode of ‘The True Nature’ starring Pierre Marcotte is brought to viewers for recreation this Sunday at 10pm on TVA.
