A passenger plane with 132 people crashed in China less than a week ago. Nobody survived. The flight recorder should provide answers.
Six days after the mysterious crash of a Chinese plane with 132 dead – reported the “Heute” – the second black box was found. After the voice recorder, the flight data recorder was also discovered, the official Xinhua news agency reported on Sunday. Investigators hope the two recording devices will provide important technical information and other data about the cause of the Boeing 737-800 crash.
The day before, Chinese authorities had confirmed that all the prisoners had died. Rescue work continued at the crash site in a mountainous area in Teng County, near the city of Wuzhou, in southern China’s Guangxi region. 120 dead have already been identified, including 114 passengers and six crew.
Almost vertical drop in the forest
The cause of the accident is a mystery. The machine of Chinese airline China Eastern Airlines suddenly plunged from a height of more than 8,000 meters on Monday, stopped briefly, but then fell further and hit the forest area almost vertically. Small pieces of debris were widely scattered at the crash site. No traces of explosives were found during laboratory tests.
According to authorities, several attempts were made to contact the machine. But the crew did not respond. The MU5735 signal disappeared about three minutes after the dive began. On board the machine, which was en route from Kunming to Guangzhou, were 123 passengers and nine crew.
