(Shefford-Ouest) A 47-year-old motorcyclist succumbed to his injuries after being hit by a car in Shefford, in the Eastern Townships, on Sunday.

The accident happened around 3:45 p.m. Saturday on Route 243. The motorcycle reportedly collided with an oncoming vehicle that was about to turn.
“According to initial information, the collision occurred as the vehicle was making a northbound turn on 243 to enter the entrance to Highway 10,” said Information Officer Nicolas Scholtus, spokesman for the Surete du Québec (SQ).
The motorcyclist was taken to the hospital, as was his passenger.
The motorcyclist was taken to the hospital with serious injuries and succumbed to his injuries on Sunday. The woman suffered serious injuries. She was also taken to the hospital, but there is no fear for her life, Scholtus said.
The driver of the vehicle suffered nervous shock. He was treated at the scene by paramedics.
An accident reconstruction specialist from SQ was dispatched to the scene of the accident.
The Sûreté du Québec’s investigation is ongoing.
