The unfortunate event happened hours before the band took the stage at the Estéreo Picnic Festival in Bogotá, Colombia as they were touring in South America.

The Foo Fighters have canceled the remainder of their South American tour.

However, there were no immediate details on how Hawkins died. It is known that the drummer was treated for “chest pain” before his death.

“The city’s order center for urgencies and emergencies received the report of a patient with chest pain in a hotel in the north of the city,” the mayor’s office of Bogotá explained in a statement.

They added that an ambulance had been dispatched to the hotel where the Seattle gang was staying, but when emergency crews arrived, they found a team from a healthcare company was already on the scene.

Nonetheless, a medical professional attended the emergency and she “pointed it out appropriate resuscitation maneuvers performed; However, there was no reply and the patient was declared deceased.”referred to the bulletin.

The body has been removed and initiated the investigations required for such a case.

Foo Fighters was one of the headliners at the Estéreo Picnic, whose presentation was supposed to end the first day of the festival, whose organizers announced the drummer’s death an hour before their performance.

Hawkins, 50, was one of the most visible figures in the gang alongside former Nirvana Dave Grohl. At concerts he left the drums to sing rock classics like Under Pressure by Queen and David Bowie or Rock n’ Roll by Led Zeppelin.

After the audience learned of the death of the drumsticks’ star, the audience attending the first evening of the Festival Estéreo Picnic burst into tears, mourning the death of the artist.

The platform upon which the band was to climb was converted into an altar on which candles were lit as a sign of mourning.

This Saturday, supporters of the artist gathered for a wake outside the hotel where Hawkins, who was born on February 17, 1972 in Fort Worth, Texas, died.
