Oscars host Regina Hall is being blasted for her hypocritical COVID skit, which was riddled with sexual innuendos and double standards.
Hall’s controversial sketch featured some of Hollywood’s hottest bachelors rounded up for ‘random’ intimate backstage COVID testing.
The actress then pulled out a list of her alleged celebrity crushes and called Bradley Cooper, Tyler Perry, Timothee Chalamet and Simu Liu onto the stage. Hall then informed the celebrity heartthrobs that she would dab them “with her tongue” backstage.
“I don’t want either of you to worry. It will be a typical rapid COVID test. You come backstage, take off your mask if you have one, and your clothes…” Hall, who announced earlier on the show that she was single, told the Oscar audience.
“No, it’s very simple, I’m going to wipe the back of your mouth with my tongue. And we’re just going to do some other crazy stuff that I’m going to record for the Academy log. Really, that’s not up to me.”
Hall called Euphoria actor Jacob Elordi, 24, and reiterated that she was aware he was of legal age. She claimed he tested positive for COVID and needed a “deep PCR test.”
English broadcaster Piers Morgan, along with several other social media users, hit back at Hall, claiming the skit was hypocritical.
“Interesting to see a female celebrity making lewd sexual jokes about male stars and physically groping them on stage,” Morgan tweeted. “Of course if a man did that, he would be canceled immediately. The double standard is ridiculous.”
“The ‘Covid tapping’ was not fun and awkward to watch,” echoed user @mariaisalright. “If the roles were reversed…imagine the reaction. Double standards aren’t cute.’

Hall is pictured giving Aquaman star Jason Momoa a ‘COVID brave’ during the sketch
The alleged double standards included the relationship status of the men on Hall’s COVID list.
The Girls Trip star visited Javier Bardem before recalling he was still linked to actress Penelope Cruz.
“Javier Bardem, are you married? Oh, you’re still with Penelope,’ she said. “You know what, actually no, no. Your test is fine. It says you’re married, I mean negatively.”
Bardem and Cruz were both seen laughing during the encounter.
The actress also poked fun at the allegedly relaxed relationship between Will Smith and his wife, insisting Jada Pinkett Smith was okay with it.
“Will Smith, you’re married, but you’re on the list,” Hall stated. “Looks like Jada approved it. So you come up here. Come up here.”

Hall also prompted Jason Momoa for a “COVID scan,” during which she publicly felt the Aquaman actor on stage, a move that struck some as odd considering a patient would not be scanned during a COVID test

The surname on Hall’s list was John David Washington, the 37-year-old son of Denzel and Pauletta Washington.
Upon learning that Washington was absent from the awards ceremonies, Hall told his parents, “I’m going to make a house call. It’s good. No reason to worry.’
English broadcaster Piers Morgan, along with several other social media users, hit back at Hall, claiming the skit was hypocritical
Others slammed Hall for the sketch’s apparent insensitivity to COVID victims, seemingly too long length and alleged lack of comedic appeal
In addition to being criticized for the skit’s apparent hypocrisy, Hall was also criticized for the skit’s length and lack of comedic appeal.
“This Covid piece could be longer than Dune,” Straight Guys podcast host Kate Zasowski tweeted.
“This Covid part with Regina makes me cringe hard…” wrote Twitter user @jtjenkinswriter.
Sooo, imagine Jason Momoa and Josh Brolin giving Regina Hall a ‘Covid stomp’ as part of an Oscar sketch. Imagine the outrage,” said @borniapss112. “Sexism goes both ways, folks. That wasn’t cool. Not cool at all. That whole sketch was awesome.’
Another argued the skit was insensitive to those killed by the virus.
“This Oscar comedy about Covid is the craziest thing I’ve ever seen,” repeated @JSnowETH. “It’s really not funny considering how many people it affected and killed. And the rest of the comedy isn’t funny either. Oops.’
“Soo, are the Oscars going to just blow past the objectifying double standards of Regina Hall and her demoralizing Covid tests and handy tapping?” asked @BristolProject.
“What if the roles were reversed? I would like to see professional respect from both sides of the table. talent replaced.’
Following the criticism, however, some Oscar viewers actually applauded Hall’s sketch as a hilarious and entertaining comedy
