In an Oscars filled with shock and overshadowed by the participation of Will Smith, CODA won the grand prize: Best Picture.

It also won the other two categories of the United States Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Awards in which it was nominated, for Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Supporting Actor.

In the emotional speech of raising this last statuette, Troy Kotsur recalls his father: “My father was the best sign writer in the family, but he was in a car accident and was paralyzed from the neck down and could no longer sign language. Dad I learned a lot from you, I always will” love you” to love and you are my hero”.

Dune was the night’s most awarded film, winning seven of the ten categories what she was nominated for.

And the big loser was “The Power of the Dog,” which out of the 12 it went for, only managed to get the win best address. it was for New Zealander Jane Campion.

The punch Will Smith and sorry

Jessica Chastain beat out fellow actresses Olivia Coleman, Penelope Cruz, Nicole Kidman and Kristen Stewart for Best Actress.

But it was Will Smith who caused a stir at the 94th edition of the Oscars, and not exactly because of his Best Actor Oscar for his performance in King Richard.

The first time he took to the stage was after comedian Chris Rock alluded to his wife Jada Pinckett Smith’s shaved head.

“Jada, I can’t wait for GI Jane 2,” the comedian said, referring to GI Jane, the 1997 film that starred Demi Moore with her hair cropped close.

After a few laughs, Smith walked onto the stage, slapped him across the face, and returned to his seat from where he yelled at him to stop talking about his wife.

When he picked up the statuette for his role as the father of tennis players Venus and Serena Williams, he apologized in a long speech to the academy and his fellow contestants.
