The São Paulo judiciary ruled that a court bail worth just over R$7 million should be paid, which would go to Belo due to a debt the singer owes to former band player and commentator Denílson. The money will be deducted from a show to be held in Pacaembu in August. The information comes from the journalist Diego Garcia of ‘UOL’.

This Tuesday, the 5th Civil Court of the São Bernardo Forum ruled that official letters will be sent to companies selling tickets for the Belo event, scheduled for the 20th of next month.

The court order stipulates that the companies post bail “up to the limit of the undisputed amount of the debt”, valued at R$7,004,586.00.

The millionaire value was contested by Belo. The singer’s defense claims he has appealed the decision as he understands the amount is irregular.

The artist’s lawyer, Marcelo Passos, pointed out that the amount is currently under review by the court and there is no blocking of the show’s gross receipts. What exists is a promise of some of the values that would be destined for the singer.

UNDERSTAND THE CONFLICT

In the 1990s, Belo and Denílson were friends and this friendship eventually developed into a commercial partnership. In 1998, the former player bought the rights to the pagoda band Soweto, which had the singer as their lead singer the band appeared on the Brazilian music scene with songs like “Farol das Estrelas”, “Não Foi A Toa” and “Tudo”. Fica Blue”, which is part of the album “Farol das Estrelas”. Belo finally left the group in 2000.

After Belo’s departure from Soweto in 2000, Denílson, the band’s rights holder at the time, took legal action, alleging breach of contract, moral damages, and other damages against the singer. In the filing, Belo’s defense at the time claimed that the singer never acknowledged Denílson as the owner of the band’s rights and that he received no financial benefits from the former player during that period.

After handling the case for four years, the TJSP won the case to Denílson and ordered Belo to pay R$388,000 at the time. Since the amount has not yet been paid even after the singer’s blocking and attachment orders and the forwarding of the lawsuit, the amount continues to increase due to the monetary corrections that are due.
