The Popular Today Show reporter is quitting after seven years as she begins a “more family-friendly” schedule at Nine News

Today’s Queensland reporter Jessica Millward announced on Tuesday that she will be leaving the Nine Breakfast Show after seven years.

The 31-year-old, who welcomed her first child in late 2020, will accept a new position at Nine News Queensland with a more “family-friendly” schedule.

She explained that her daily 3am starts meant she rarely saw her husband Joel Dry “up” and felt like it was time to move on.

“It’s about time my very understanding husband and I see each other awake,” Millward wrote on Instagram as she reflected on her memorable “Today” moments.

“From Cairns to Copenhagen… From the Kimberley to Kangaroo Island. There have been floods, fires, furry animals and heroes in underwear,” she wrote.

The mother-of-one said she’s looking forward to having a more normal schedule once she’s done in a few weeks.

Today host Karl Stefanovic thanked Millward for her hard work in the comments section, writing: “One of the best on the network and in the country Jess. You will be greatly missed. Much luck. Chase the dream.”

Today weather presenter Tim Davies said: “Proud of you. Forward and upward.’

Belinda Russell added: “Oh phew… for a second I thought you were leaving Nine! Enjoy the sleep in, my love. You’ve earned it.”

Millward married Dry, a fellow TV reporter, in Langhorne Creek, South Australia, in February 2018.

She announced she was expecting her first child live on Today in June 2020 during a live crossing from a Gold Coast theme park.

“I was ready to go on the rides yesterday, super excited, the cameraman was ready to go, and then I remembered I’m in a certain condition right now, so I can’t really,” she said.

Stefanovic then asked her about her “condition,” insisting he had no idea what she was talking about.

Co-host Allison Langdon reminded Stefanovic that he actually knew, and it was a “good state.”

“She is having a baby!” she said, confirming the good news for viewers.
