ÖAMTC warns weekend traffic jams will be even bigger

Last weekend, there were longer delays in traffic in Salzburg and southern Austria. Now follows the next traffic jam chaos.

“Already last weekend, the columns in Salzburg on the Tauern Autobahn (A10) towards the south were more than twenty kilometers long. This weekend, however, will be even more intense in traffic”, fears Alfred Obermayr, of ÖAMTC mobility information in a broadcast.

Holidays in German federal states and parts of the Netherlands

The reason: Holidays are starting in other German federal states and parts of the Netherlands. In Tyrol, the Brenner Autobahn (A13) and Fernpass route will be overloaded at times.

According to ÖAMTC, there will be traffic jams and lost time at the following border crossings:

West Autobahn (A1) Walserberg
Pyhrn Autobahn (A9) playing field
Karawanken Autobahn (A11) in front of Karawanken Tunnel
Inn Valley Highway (A12) Kiefersfelden

More stagnation points in detail:

Brenner Autobahn (A13) from Innsbruck to the Schönberg toll booth and in South Tyrol before the Vipiteno toll booth.
Fernpassstraße (B179) in its entirety.
West (A1) and Tauern Autobahn (A10) from Walserberg to Puch, from Hüttau to Flachau and before the St. Michael.
Innkreis Autobahn (A8) between border and city on Inkreis due to construction works.
Pyhrn Autobahn (A9) before St. Pankraz and Überbach.

Traffic jams around the Bregenz Festival

“Delays on major transit routes are almost unavoidable. Diving is difficult or time consuming. We currently have 76 road closures along transit routes. This is to prevent traffic from being diverted. So it is generally advisable not to close the main traffic routes, mainly highways, even when exiting traffic jams”, informs the mobility information of the ÖAMTC. Up-to-date information on vacation destinations is also available at www.oeamtc.at/urlaubsservice.

Until August 21st, the Bregenz Festival will once again attract many people interested in culture to Lake Constance. Here too, delays in the access roads to the festival grounds should be foreseen. ÖAMTC recommends using public transport.
