‘My health has gotten worse from going vegan’: Bear Grylls opens up about his diet – admitting he’s ‘against veggies’ after quitting veganism
He’s known for eating whatever he needs to survive out in the jungle.
But Bear Grylls, 48, has been candid about his daily diet, admitting that while he was a former advocate for veganism, he’s recently changed his mind.
The discoverer, real nickname Edward Michael Grylls, explained that he is now “anti-veg” after a battle with Covid-19 in which his vegan diet “fueled” his recovery.

The TV personality used to be a massive advocate for a natural, vegetable-enriched diet and even wrote a book of recipes called Fuel for Life.
But speaking to GQ Magazine, Bear explained that he no longer eats vegetables or nuts and is concentrating on meat.
“Great against nuts. And against cereals, wheat and vegetables. They had a negative impact on my health. I’ve been a massive advocate for the vegan lifestyle for years and wrote a book about it, but my health has suffered as a result,” he told the publication.
Admitting that contracting Covid was the tipping point for that, he continued: “When I got COVID a few years ago, I doubled down on what I thought was healthy – raw juice, veggies – and ended up with mega sore kidneys, almost Kidney stones. ‘

“The more I researched, the more I realized that raw veggies really aren’t good for you. So I started using quality grass-fed steak and liver.’
The adventurer admits that the change has made eating more fun, and explains that for him it’s not just important what you eat, but when you eat it.
Bear explains that he’s been doing intermittent fasting for “a couple of years,” and explains that he skips breakfast and has his first meal around 11 or 12 p.m.
It comes as the Man vs Wild star previously admitted his regret at killing “too many animals” in the wild.
