With one round to go, Ontario’s Brooke M. Henderson leads the Evian Championship in France by two shots. Sunday’s lead would earn her her second major title on the LPGA Tour.

Arguably one of Canada’s most underrated athletes, Henderson was just 18 when she won the 2016 tournament formerly known as the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship.
Back then, the athlete from Smiths Falls, halfway between Ottawa and Kingston, needed a birdie on the first hole of overtime to defeat the famous Lydia Ko.
This time, the fourth and final round in Evian-les-Bains could result in a great show with Henderson and South Korean So Yeon Ryu.
Watch out for the greens!
After bringing home an excellent 64 in the first two days, Henderson followed up on Saturday with a 68 score. She finds herself at -17.
A bogey on the first hole got her third round off to a bad start, but the Canadian held her own and finished with four birdies and 13 pars. On the back nine, she got a valuable shot on the 14th pennant as she hit the par 3 in straight sets for 226 yards.
Admittedly, Henderson struggled with his putter on that third day of 30 putts. She has to do better on Sunday.
Extra pressure
Her closest pursuer So Yeon Ryu, who is two shots behind at -15, shot 65 on Saturday. With three birdies in the last four holes, the South Korean put the pressure on Henderson’s shoulders ahead of the final round.
Third in the competition is the American Sophia Schubert. At -13 overall, she remains a threat as she is four shots behind the Canadian.
In addition to pursuing a second major title, Henderson could triumph for the 12th time on the LPGA Tour overall. His most recent win was at the ShopRite Classic in New Jersey last month.
