Caracas, March 28 (RHC) ALBA-TCP Executive Secretary Sacha Llorenti on Monday highlighted Nicaragua’s election as FAO Regional Vice-President for Latin America and the Caribbean during the 37th Conference in Quito, Ecuador.
In a message on the social network Twitter, the official of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America – Peoples’ Trade Treaty expressed: “We congratulate Nicaragua (…) it is a recognition of the achievements in terms of food sovereignty of the government of reconciliation and national unity .
In the opening session this Monday, Nicaragua was elected Vice President for the next two years and will be represented by Minister Edward Centeno.
The conference discussed the key achievements of FAO in Latin America and the Caribbean in the 2020-2021 biennium, while setting the regional priorities for the next biennium.
The Regional Conference is the highest regional governing body of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.
This 37th session focuses on the transition to more efficient, inclusive, resilient and sustainable agri-food systems for better production, better nutrition, a better environment and better lives. (Source: Latin Press).
