“As an officer, this is the worst-case scenario,” San Jose Police Officer Steve Aponte said.
“You see so many violations at once that are dangerous not only to the drivers who commit them or the drivers who committed them, but also to pedestrians.”
The Santa Cruz County Sheriff tells ABC News that the Porsche SUV involved in the accident was reported stolen after two suspects in the 2020 carjacking exited the vehicle.
However, Bryand is said not to have been a prime suspect in this case.
After the accident, Bryand was arrested and charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, reckless driving, and other charges.

The car accident further underscores the city’s ongoing problems with traffic fatalities
The crashed vehicles landed in Danny Rey’s front yard with the entire scene captured on his security cameras.
On Friday, according to NBC Bay Area, Rey said something needed to be done to improve traffic safety in the neighborhood.
“As you can see from the traffic at the moment, people are crossing the road and this is not the first accident. It’s underway,” he said.
“There’s a lot of kids, there’s an elementary school, a junior high school, and a high school, and they all go through here,” Rey added.
“I knew this was going to happen because of all the speeding, all the red lights and all the accidents that happened.”
