Yesterday’s Oscars had beauty, great music and some shocking moments. We bring you the highlights of the Oscars 2022, some of the best and most inspiring moments of this emblematic awards ceremony.
Along with all the beautiful red carpet fashion, the night was packed with significant honors. Some actors wore a blue ribbon to promote the resolution of the Ukraine conflict. There was also a tribute to the film The Godfather presented by Al Pacino, Robert De Niro and Francis Ford Coppola. In addition, the academy commemorated all the movie stars who have already moved on to a better life.
Other memorable elements of the gala included the speech by Ariana De Bose, Zack Snyder, who won two awards presented by the fans, and the incident between Will Smith and Chris Rock. As expected, this year’s event had it all, and despite a few things that might obscure it, the first post-pandemic ceremony was filled with laughter and joy.

Celebrities wear blue ribbons in support of Ukraine
Something quite epic was the support of some artists for the war in Ukraine. These were seen walking the red carpet with a blue ribbon in support of stopping the violence in Ukraine. The artists who were part of this beautiful moment were Jamie Lee Curtis, Alberto Iglesias and Youn Yuh-Jung.
Moreover, celebrities showed their support in Ukraine not only with ribbons; Many actors and actresses declared their wish for an end to the war when interviewed by the press.
Dune Sweeping Awards before the ceremony

Before the televised ceremony began, the film Dune was already winning awards. Denis Villeneuve’s film won 4 awards before the Oscar broadcast even started. These awards were “Best Sound”, “Best Film Music”, “Best Editing” and “Best Design”. Later during the ceremony, two more statues were won in the Cinematography and Visual Effects categories.
This sci-fi production was nominated for nine awards and went home with six. Many compare this success to that of Mad Max: Fury Road just a few years ago.
Beyoncé’s “Be Alive” opening performance
The start of the event was powerful. On a tennis court in Compton, Beyoncé performed the song “Be Alive,” the theme song for the movie King Richard. This song was nominated for Best Song, and while it wasn’t the winner of that award, it left audiences in awe. Beyoncé’s performance was presented by the Williams sisters themselves and had the presence of Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s daughter, Blue Ivy.
Will Smith’s shocking moments
Will Smith’s name is going viral for two reasons. First, he slapped Chris Rock in the middle of his monologue because Rock made a joke about his wife, Jada Pinkett-Smith. He then won Best Actor for his role in King Richard and apologized to the Academy for his behavior during his speech. We still don’t know if the academy will remove Smith’s Oscar due to this incident, but we’re awaiting news.

After winning the Best Supporting Actress award, Ariana Debose’s speech was very moving and intense. Debose is the first openly queer AfroLatina actress to win this award. She called for reflection that everyone can achieve their dreams if they fight for them. She said during her speech: “Now you understand why Anita says she wants to be in America: because despite the problems, dreams come true.”
The triumph for Troy Kotsur and CODA
Troy Kotsur was another amazing award winner after taking home the Oscar for his role in the film Coda. Troy Kotsur became the first deaf male actor to win an Oscar. In his speech, which was translated by an interpreter, he emphasized his love for the art of filmmaking.
