Nearly 2.35 million people have fled to safety in Poland since the Russian attack on Ukraine. The announcement was made today by the Polish border guard via Twitter.
Today alone, according to border guards, there were about 21,000 people. That was a good 22% drop from the previous day. Germany has around 278,000 refugees from Ukraine and around 35,000 are registered in Austria.
364,000 returned to Ukraine
Since the beginning of the war on February 24, about 364,000 people have crossed the border from Poland into Ukraine, the Polish border guard said. According to previous information, most of these travelers are Ukrainian nationals who are returning to their home country.
Many men, but also women, want to join Ukrainian troops and fight Russian soldiers. Others return to care for children or dependents in need.
There is currently no official information on how many war refugees have remained in Poland and how many have traveled to other EU countries.
