HAVANA, March 29 (RHC) – Representatives of China, Russia and the United States will hold consultations on Afghanistan tomorrow, Wednesday, at a ministerial meeting that will be held in the Asian giant until Thursday.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry specified that its special envoy, Yue Xiaoyong, will lead the tripartite talks, along with an official from Pakistan.
“It is expected that this contact “in connection with the third meeting of foreign ministers of Afghanistan’s neighboring countries will have a positive effect in order to strengthen the consensus of all parties on the situation in this country,” he said.
On Wednesday and Thursday, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi will chair the meeting in downtown Tunxi that will bring together his counterparts from Pakistan, Iran, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan with Afghan Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi.
The meeting should help build consensus on Afghanistan, discuss how to help it gain stability and help its people.
The Taliban government is expected to be persuaded to commit to an open and inclusive political structure, the pursuit of moderation in both domestic and foreign policies, and the most effective fight against terrorism.
The foreign ministers of Indonesia and Qatar are also invited to the meeting.
The Chinese government also calls on the international community to provide more support to Afghanistan and calls on the United States to take responsibility for economic reconstruction. (Source: PL)
