British military intelligence considers the Russian offensive to besiege the Ukrainian capital Kiev as a failure. This was announced on Tuesday night from an update from the British Ministry of Defence, citing intelligence information. Furthermore, Russia’s announcement that it would reduce military pressure on Kiev and reports of Russian troop withdrawals suggested that Russia had lost its initiative in the region.
British military experts now consider it “highly likely” that Russia will shift its combat capability from northern Ukraine to the south-east of the country. The offensive in the Luhansk and Donetsk regions must now be stepped up.
Even before the start of the war, London began to share intelligence information with the public in an unusually open way. For weeks now, the government has been publishing daily assessments of the course of the war of aggression.
