If Windows 11 improves many elements of the system, it also brings its share of problems. Microsoft is gradually fixing them.

As the months pass, Windows 11 evolves and Microsoft corrects the small flaws. The clock on the second screen has returned and we’ll soon be able to drag and drop files between applications via the taskbar again. It remains to fix another rather painful problem, the choice of the default browser.
Microsoft’s bad habits
We pointed out very early on: Choosing your default browser was absurdly difficult on Windows 11. Microsoft did absolutely everything to push the user towards Microsoft Edge, their home browser, instead of letting them download an alternative. Fortunately, Microsoft has finally changed its position.
This requires downloading update 22000.593 (KB5011563) from Windows Update, which is currently an optional update. It includes a number of interesting little changes, but perhaps the best of them is the ability to choose the default browser with one click.
Choose your browser with one click
Remember that the original release of Windows 11 required you to associate your browser of choice with every file type found on the web, including HTML. Now Windows 11 includes a button to make Google Chrome or any other browser the default browser. This button then associates the browser with each of the file types we talked about.
Choosing a default browser in Windows 11 still requires digging into System Preferences, but at least the task is less daunting now.
