Marilyn Manson has filed a defamation lawsuit against Evan Rachel Wood over allegations of sexual abuse of the actor against him.
Manson, the American “shock rocker” born Brian Warner, filed a lawsuit in the Los Angeles High Court on Wednesday. The complaint accuses Wood and her “again, again” partner Ashley “Ilma” Gore of describing him as a “rapist and rapist – a malicious lie that ruined Warner’s successful music, television and film careers.”
Wood and Gore did not respond to a request for comment from Deadline, which was the first to announce the case.
Wood and Gore appear in Phoenix Rising, a new documentary about Wood’s life and career that is scheduled to premiere on HBO this month. He also details Wood’s accusations against Manson.
In the documentary, Wood said that during the previously discussed “simulated sex scene” for the music video for Manson’s 2007 single Heart-Shaped Glasses, Manson “began to really penetrate me” and that she “never she agreed. “
Wood said she was given absinthe on set, which affected her ability to deny Manson’s alleged actions. Warner has denied raping Wood on the set of the music video.
In Wednesday’s file, Manson accused Wood and Gore of “falsifying and spreading” allegations against him. He claims that they pretended to be an FBI agent, “falsifying and distributing a fictitious letter from the agent to create a false impression” that Manson was under federal criminal investigation.
Manson claims that Wood and Gore “provided checklists and scenarios to future prosecutors, listing the specific alleged acts of abuse they had to declare against Warner.”
The case accuses Gore of trying to obtain Manson’s login information on his computer, phone and email, and claims that she created a fake email address to claim that Manson sent pornography to contacts.
In addition to requesting a lawsuit, Manson accused Wood of causing emotional stress, violating the Comprehensive Computer Data Act and fraud by accessing and impersonating someone else on the Internet.
In a statement, Howard King, Manson’s attorney, said: “Although HBO and the producers have been notified of these serious misconduct, they have so far chosen to continue without considering the facts. But the evidence of Wood’s and Gore’s wrongdoing is irrefutable – and this lawsuit will hold them accountable.
