The Russian minister raises the possibility of an agreement with Ukraine

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said he sees the possibility of an agreement between the country he represents and Ukraine.

Lavrov said it would put an end to the Russian attack on Ukraine that has been going on for weeks and has claimed many lives and injured hundreds more.

Russian Minister Sergei Lavrov said the potential deal could come about because western Ukraine seems more willing to admit what it sees as a mistake.

“Anyway, I see possibilities for an agreement as our Western partners are beginning to understand the grave mistakes that have been made for many years, although perhaps for understandable reasons they are not saying it out loud,” Lavrov told media Serbs.

However, the Russian representative warned that Moscow is not interested in delegates from Brussels or Washington taking part in the negotiations with Kyiv.

“Moscow is not interested in representatives from Brussels or Washington taking part in the peace talks that are opening with Kyiv in the Turkish city of Istanbul,” Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said.

“Now they’re telling us, ‘Give diplomacy a chance.’ Of course we want to give diplomacy a chance, so we agreed to resume talks in Istanbul. But there are many examples of how our Western counterparts have destroyed the achievements of diplomacy,” added the Russian government official.

He stated that Russia and Ukraine will continue their talks, this time in person, to try to reach an agreement and end the war after the illegal invasion.
