BERLIN, March 30th (RHC) Cuban Minister of Energy and Mines Nicolás Liván Arronte spoke here today with the Chairman of the German Bundestag’s Economic and Energy Commission, Klaus Ernst.

According to the island’s embassy in the European country, both sides discussed Cuba’s renewable energy policy and efforts to develop this program in the context of changing the Caribbean nation’s energy matrix.

The Cuban minister thus ended the first of two days of a dialogue with German authorities on the 2022 energy transition.

During the event, Arronte exchanged views with Dr. Ajay Mathur, Director General of the International Solar Alliance, on the future outlook and consolidation of renewable energy project development on the island.

Ajay Mathur, Director General of the International Solar Alliance, I had a fruitful meeting as part of the Dialogue on Energy Transition in #Berlin, where we exchanged views on development and future projects of renewable energies for our country. #CubaVive, Arronte wrote on the social network Twitter.

The Minister had previously spoken to the President of the Federal Association of Renewable Energies, Simone Peter, about projects with German companies.

Another meeting of the minister took place with the Director General of the International Renewable Energy Agency (Irena), Francesco La Camera, as this body will financially support the island to build 15 megawatts (MW) of photovoltaic parks.

Irena also pledged to strengthen exchanges with the Greater Antilles energy matrix.

The Cuban government is trying to strengthen variants, especially sustainable ones, to solve energy problems in the face of clean mechanisms such as solar and wind sources. (Source: PL)
