Moscow, March 31.- The Russian Embassy in the United States has urged the authorities of that country and its allies to halt the destructive course of undermining diplomacy so needed at a time of international tension.
Moscow’s representation in Washington, via its Telegram channel, dismissed the recent statement by US State Department spokesman Ned Price, who welcomed the expulsion of Russian diplomats from several countries.
“We believe Ned Price’s support for the decision to expel our employees goes against what US officials have said about their commitment to diplomacy to solve world problems,” he said.
The Russian embassy stressed that the line taken by the US government and other Western countries to annihilate Moscow’s diplomatic missions abroad confirms their impotence when it comes to defending positions in a fair and respectful dialogue.
This Tuesday, the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement on the expulsion of 17 Russian diplomats from the country.
Belgium also did so with more than 20 officials from the Moscow Embassy in Brussels.
Similar measures have been taken by the governments of Poland, Slovakia, Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia.
