WASHINGTON – The probe into actions leading up to the attack on the Capitol on January 6, 2021, today opens a new course in the investigation by a US House of Representatives committee.

The Washington Post opened the door to questions when it reported Wednesday that the Department of Justice (DOJ) expanded its investigation into the attack to include the events leading up to the rally leading up to the action and the broader conspiracies that fueled the attack have violence.

According to The Hill newspaper, the focus is now on how the protesters got the money to go to Washington DC and who was behind the planning of the incident, which is said to have been promoted by still President Donald Trump in an apparent coup .

Before Trump supporters attacked the Capitol, many attended a multi-speaker rally, including the president himself, the digital publication recalled.

Citing Post sources, The Hill said the DOJ is now investigating the planning of the rally and conspiracy theories surrounding the event, which centered on false claims that Trump won the 2020 presidential election and that voter fraud was the reason Joe Biden won may be.

According to the newspaper, the DOJ began issuing subpoenas to investigate the attack’s financing and planning, as well as the individuals involved.

People familiar with the matter told the Post that the subpoenas had been issued against people in Trump’s circle, but did not say what they were asking for or who received them.

New York Attorney General Letitia James is also leading an investigation into whether the accounts of the former president’s family business intentionally contained false information.

So far, investigations into Trump’s Capitol Hill attack for alleged tax evasion and other wrongdoing before and during his tenure have not been proven.

Meanwhile, time is running out and Republicans could take control of Congress in 2022 and the former president could run for the White House again in 2024.
