Patriots owner Robert Kraft said this week that he’s bothered by the fact the Patriots haven’t won a playoff game since Super Bowl LIII, and one of the ways the team can end that streak is with a great quarterback -Get game.

2021 first-round pick Mac Jones had some strobes during his rookie season, but the overall work wasn’t good enough to lead the Patriots past the Bills late in the regular season or in the playoffs. The Bills added Von Miller this offseason, the Dolphins made a big swing for Tyreek Hill and the rest of the AFC have also been busy taking steps to prepare for next season so it’s great that this one Blitzen is becoming a consistently strong game in New England.

Kraft admitted this when asked about his feelings on the development of Jones.

“This year is going to be very insightful,” Kraft said of TheAthletic.com’s Jeff Howe. “For coming up with something as new as it’s established I think he got beat up pretty badly and he kept coming back and getting up and doing really great stuff. The way he treats himself has taken some real punches and jumped up. He has developed a good relationship with the entire squad of receivers. I’m very happy with what I saw. But this is a big year, the second year.”

Clear progress from Jones will bode well for the Patriots regardless of what might happen in the postseason, because it’s hard to believe New England will see deep playoff runs without a significant improvement in quarterback play .
