Pro Bowl linebacker Bobby Wagner will remain at the NFC West next season despite being fired by the Seattle Seahawks earlier this month.
Wagner agreed to a five-year contract with the Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams, the team announced on Thursday.
Financial terms weren’t disclosed, but sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter that the deal is for $50 million and could be worth up to $65 million if Wagner meets incentives.
It will be a homecoming for Los Angeles-born Wagner. Wagner becomes the latest notable player to join a star-studded Rams defense that already includes defensive tackle Aaron Donald and cornerback Jalen Ramsey.
The Baltimore Ravens were also in the mix to sign Wagner before he decided to sign with the Rams.

Wagner, 31, was the last remaining member of the star-studded defense that led Seattle to its lone World Championship and a return to Super Bowl XLIX after the 2014 season.
Wagner, the Seahawks’ all-time tackle leader with 1,383 tackles, is coming off a 170-tackle season that earned him his eighth Pro Bowl nomination in 10 seasons. He set that personal best despite missing all but one snap in the last two games with a sprained knee.
While Wagner didn’t make as many impact plays as he did in some of his best seasons, he recorded one interception, one sack, one forced fumble and five passes defended en route to a second-team All-Pro selection in 2021.
In 2020, Wagner was one of 22 defensemen named to the All-Decade team for the 2010s by the Pro Football Hall of Fame. His Hall of Fame-worthy résumé also includes six first-team All-Pro selections, two second-team All-Pro selections, and eight Pro Bowls nominations, the second-highest rank in franchise history take in.
