Serbia denies
But its story could be even more exciting. According to Ukrainian media reports from 2018, “Bagira” is actually a woman named Daniela Lazovic. It is about a former volleyball player who entered a convent and became a nun. However, this was just a cover for several drug smugglers, which is why she was serving prison time.
The Serbian Interior Ministry has denied rumors that Starikova and Lazovic are the same person. In their statement, they write that Daniela Lazovic was arrested in October 2020 and has been serving a six-year sentence in Pozarevac Prison since then.
