The essentials As the Covid-19 epidemic subsides and the public health emergency has been lifted since August 1, 2022, La Dépêche du Midi makes a practical assessment of what has changed in terms of tests, vaccinations or isolation rules.
They’ve been a part of our every moment for a little over two years. The almost weekly PCR tests while the Covid-19 was circulating, waiting for a slot to get vaccinated… It all seems to be over for good now. At least for now: the virus is still circulating, even if it affects our lives less.
According to data from Public Health France, between August 1 and 7, an average of 29,628 cases of Covid-19 were registered in France every day. But if, as the epidemic subsides, general mobilization to fight the disease has given way to a local network, how can one get tested or vaccinated? So what are the isolation rules if our test is positive? La Dépêche takes stock.
• 5,090 positive cases identified in 24 hours, up from 7,249 last Monday (few tests conducted on Sundays)
• Nearly 30,000 positive cases daily (average over the past week), compared to 130,000 fewer than a month ago. \ud83d\udcc9 #Covid19

Where and how is testing carried out?
Faced with the decline in daily cases of Covid-19, facilities organizing tests to detect the coronavirus are becoming fewer and fewer. For example, no more white tents with “Covid Test” printed on our streets.
If you want to get tested today, you need to make an appointment and go to a lab. Some pharmacies continue to carry out tests, mainly antigens, but tests are often carried out by appointment. Some university hospitals continue to conduct tests without an appointment.
But be careful: Despite the end of the health emergency, the reimbursement policy for anti-Covid tests remains unchanged: they remain free for vaccinated people, while non-vaccinated people have to pay around 40 euros for a PCR test. , and between 16 and 45 euros for an antigen test.

Where to get vaccinated
Here, too, the drop in demand led to the closure of the famous “Vaccindrome”, in which several doses of anti-Covid serum were administered every day. From now on you can make an appointment in pharmacies, doctor’s surgeries or with your doctor to receive your vaccination dose.
According to Santé Publique France data of August 7, 2022, 40,533,242 French people received their third dose of anti-Covid serum, ie 59.7% of the population. Health officials also add that 5,419,611 people have taken their fourth dose of the vaccine.

What about isolation rules?
If you have just tested positive for Covid-19, note that despite the lifting of the public health emergency, the isolation rules remain the same. If you are vaccinated you will need to self-isolate for seven full days. The period can be shortened to five days if you happened to be negative before the end of your isolation period;
If you are not vaccinated, you must remain in isolation for ten full days, unless your test is negative before the deadline imposed: you can then only remain in isolation for seven days.
