Fashion fans have slammed Victoria Beckham for using an ‘underage’ looking model in her new campaign.
The 48-year-old fashion designer showed off new pieces from her VB body capsule collection and posted a black and white photo of model Morgan Porter in one of the cardigans.
Morgan is signed to Storm Models, has shot campaigns for Louis Vuitton and walked the runway for Victoria Beckham and Jil Sander.
The caption read: “Meticulously designed and new to the VB Body capsule collection, the cropped cardigan hugs the body while accentuating the waist.
Victoria Beckham’s fashion brand has been criticized for using a model that fans say looks ‘underage’ and ‘like a child’.
The model, who wears pieces from VB Body’s capsule collection, has been called childish by Victoria Beckham’s followers
Fans commented on the young appearance of the model chosen for the campaign, whose age is unknown
The fashion designer has been criticized in the past for the models involved in her campaigns
Available in black and white, it’s the perfect layering piece.’
But the cardigan itself was lost among fans who were more worried about the appearance and age of the model.
With many people agreeing that she looked “too young,” fashionistas slammed the designer for choosing her to front the campaign.
While the model’s age is unclear and unconfirmed, people thought she at least looked like she wasn’t very old.
One person wrote: “This picture is wrong! When she’s not a child, she’s very childlike, which is obviously what you wanted. Just wrong!’
Fans of the fashion brand quickly expressed their displeasure with the chosen model
Another said: “Model is way too young. Completely inappropriate.’
Some people thought the model was so young that they were convinced the photo was of a “kid in underwear.”
This isn’t the first time the designer and mother of four has come under criticism for her style choices.
In 2019, People slammed the brand for using a “skeletal” model that “looked sick,” which they said promoted unhealthy body image.
Back in March 2016, Victoria faced criticism on social media after posting a quirky GIF of a model on her Instagram page.
The fashion designer quickly garnered 32,000 likes for the moving image, which showed a young blonde model turning left and right against the backdrop of the New York skyline.
While many fans have criticized the younger model being used in the new VB Body capsule collection, they welcomed the casting of a plus size woman
Fans praised the “curvy” model and said the brand finally represents women of all sizes
However, many of the nearly 300 comments rounded out the designer for using a model that he felt was “far too thin.”
While this particular photo has angered fans, other promotions in the campaign have received approval to feature models of various shapes and sizes.
After a video was posted of a plus-size model showing off the new collection, fans praised the designer for using “models of all sizes.”
One person wrote: “Finally Qween! (sic) You listened to our feedback and used curvaceous models for your campaign.’
Another said: ‘As a taller woman I love this. It’s hard to stay stylish when your options are SHEIN or a tent for two.’
Although it seems like the designer is listening to fan comments about being more inclusive with the models chosen for campaigns, she has defended her use of slimmer models in the past.
Responding to criticism of “skinny” models, she told The Telegraph, “They’re young, they’re skinny, but that doesn’t mean they’re sick.”
FEMAIL has reached out to Victoria Beckham for comment.
While fans were quick to vent their anger at the young-looking model, they praised the designer for showing a curvier model
