Homegrown Hollywood star Joel Edgerton has spoken to his partner Christine Centenera about the importance of family and the birth of his twins.

The notoriously private 48-year-old Star Wars fan favorite says he wants to raise his children in Australia despite the demands of a jet-set leading man career.

Hollywood home favorite Joel Edgerton has opened up about the birth of his twins with partner Christine Centenera and says he wants to raise his children “Aussie”.

Based on the 2018 Thai cave rescue, the Amazon Prime film was filming in Queensland last year when Christine was expecting.

Joel told the film’s famed Hollywood director, Ron Howard, that he would only play the role if he had time to be with his partner for the birth.

The situation was complicated by pandemic travel restrictions making things “difficult”.

“It should read: Make a film, a month off, welcome babies. And they came, like twins, incredibly early.’

Joel was able to take a week off to welcome his children who were born in May 2021.

Joel plays rescue diver and anesthetist Dr. Richard Harry’ Harris, the latest in a long line of high-profile roles to stay away from his home base in Australia.

He recently completed a role in George Clooney’s The Boys in the Boat, which was filmed in London. He has also appeared in the Disney+ series Obi Wan Kenobi.

But now, Joel says, he’s thinking more about planning projects to be manufactured in Australia — where his parents live.

He said he misses Australia when he’s out of town.

“I would definitely like to be in Australia and film more and I really want my kids to sound a little bit like us,” he explained.

“You know what, it’s not about an accent, it’s about an identity and I would love it if they had an Australian identity.”

Christina currently works as fashion director for Vogue Australia and as a designer for her own line, Wardrobe NYC.
