Firefighters from this Montérégie town were called to the rue des Trembles around 1:50am Friday night after a fire broke out at the home of influential gangster Gregory Woolley.
The latter is known for his links to organized crime, both the Montreal mafia and the Hells Angels and street gangs.
To our knowledge, the damage was limited to the garage of the luxurious cabin owned by Woolley and his wife Christelle Huot, a former contestant of the reality show Loft Story.
The Harley-Davidson motorcycle that the Kingpin had used during a trip with the Hells in May could be seen to the right of the garage.
According to our information, a fire scene technician from the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) was asked by the firefighters to help determine the cause of the fire.
It is not yet known what caused the fire or whether or not it was a third-party fault. The Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu police, as well as the city’s fire department, did not answer our calls and emails on Saturday.
Bullets on a neighbor
Just a few months earlier, in early May, a house next door to the Woolley-Huot couple had been mistakenly targeted. After detonations, a bullet hole was found on the shop front and cases on the floor.
A few weeks later, new housing was discovered near the chief’s property by a resident of the sector.
According to our sources, everything led to believe that Woolley was attacked during the two incidents and that we were trying to message him.
In the crosshairs of the tax authorities
The man whom police consider “the godfather” of Montreal street gangs has been released after five years behind bars. After his full release last fall, he moved back into the home, which was listed for sale for $3.8 million, under his wife’s name.

♦ The diary also reported in July that his wife was in the crosshairs of the tax authorities and that a legal mortgage of nearly $80,000 had just been placed on the home.
