First Secretary of the Party’s Central Committee and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, described the help of Mexico and Venezuela in dealing with the supertanker base incident as a paragon of Latin American brotherhood.
In two separate messages to Andrés Manuel López Obrador and Nicolás Maduro Moros, presidents of Mexico and Venezuela respectively, Díaz-Canel expressed Cuba’s gratitude, as read at the Solidarity Forces awards ceremony held this Sunday at the General Staff of the Central Army, in which Roberto Morales Ojeda, member of the Politburo and organizational secretary of the Central Committee of the party, participated.
The letters, read by Susely Morfa González, the party’s first secretary in Matanzas, stressed the importance of this assistance in overcoming the epic battle against an accident that, given its scale and devastating effects, is among the most devastating ever have happened to the country.
Díaz-Canel stressed that such an attitude inspires respect and admiration because they are also taking the same risk, which the Cuban people will never forget.
As a sign of reciprocity, Mexicans and Venezuelans expressed their admiration for the affection shown to them by the Cuban people.
