University, Shanghai ranking released. Not even an Italian in the top 100: it is the worst result among the G7 Open countries

First Harvard, second Stanford, third MIT. That first three positions of the Shanghai rankings are no surprise. In the ranking of the best universities in the world, the top positions are still occupied by US universities. Europe only comes fourth, with the University of Cambridge, in the UK, and again in seventh place with Oxford, also in the UK. For Italy you have to be patient and scroll through the ranking page by page. The ranking only defines exact positions in the first 100 places, then it is limited to specifying a band. The ranking was prepared by Jiao Tong University of Shanghai and concerns the Top 500 Universities in the World. Among the criteria taken into account in its creation are the academic recognitions in terms of published works and citations received, but also the Nobel Prizes and the achievements in terms of the number of subscribers.

Among the Italians is the one who achieves the highest rank La Sapienza of Rome. Its position is firmly in the range between 101 and 150. Followed by the Statale di Milano, the University of Padua and the University of Pisa, all in the range between 151 and 200. In the future there are four other universities in the range from 201 to 300: the Politecnico di Milano, the University of Bologna, the University Federico II in Naples and the University of Turin. It is the worst result among the G7 countries. Excluding the United States and the United Kingdom, Canada has the University of Toronto at 22nd, France instead has Paris-Saclay at 16th, Germany the Technical University of Munich at 56th, and Japan the University of Tokyo at 24th.
