Mercedes-AMG will soon be delivering the first performance versions of the all-electric Mercedes-Benz EQS and now has common pricing. Featuring two new curated trims for the US market, the Mercedes-AMG EQS will be the first AMG EV to appear on the Mercedes EQ architecture.
Mercedes-AMG is a 100 percent subsidiary of Mercedes-Benz AG, which was founded in the 1960s by former Mercedes-Benz employees. Although it started as an independent engineering firm focused on performance tuning for Mercedes-Benz vehicles, the German car group eventually acquired AMG.
However, AMG has previously built a respected reputation for elevating Mercedes-Benz vehicles, which are already very premium, to a higher standard in terms of performance and handling. As a result, Mercedes-AMG vehicles are among the most expensive on the market.
Apart from that, they are also some of the coolest and most powerful vehicles out there. In April 2021, Mercedes-AMG announced that it would bring its wealth of experience in customization and tuning to the Mercedes EQ range of electric vehicles. In addition, Mercedes-AMG is also developing performance vehicles with purely battery-electric drives. Based on future electric cars from Mercedes-EQ, exclusive, individualized and performance-enhanced AMG models are currently being developed – similar to today’s Mercedes-AMG E-Class based on a Mercedes-Benz model, known as the AMG derivative strategy. The market launch will begin later this year.
Specifically, Mercedes-AMG mentioned the EQS sedan at the time, which has recently been delivered in the USA and which will soon be followed by an SUV version. As promised, Mercedes-AMG has built its forthcoming Performance EQS at an AMG-level price point.

Mercedes-AMG EQS is slated to arrive this spring in two trim levels
The performance subsidiary recently shared details of its very first AMG vehicles based on the Mercedes EQ architecture in a press release. AMG EQS Sedan will arrive in two curated trims for the US market – ‘Exclusive’ and ‘Pinnacle’. Here are some of the AMG additions consumers can expect to find in the new EQS trims:
- Power output up to 649 hp with a “boost” function providing up to 751 hp
- Distinctive displays in the instrument cluster, multimedia display and AR heads-up display (HUD)
- The variable AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive is standard
- Steplessly distributes the drive torque between the front and rear axles
- The torque is checked 10,000 times per minute and adjusted if necessary
- The AMG RIDE CONTROL suspension ensures enhanced driving dynamics
- Based on the AIRMATIC air suspension in combination with an adaptive, electronically controlled adjustable damping in connection with a rear axle steering of up to nine degrees
- A whole range of improved active and passive driver assistance systems is standard
- Heated and ventilated front seats, leather seating surfaces, active multicontour front seats with extended massage and comfort headrest
- Wireless smartphone integration, wireless charging in the front
- Burmester Surround Sound System with 3D Sound, EQ Sound Experience and sound personalization
To the prices. According to the press release, the AMG EQS starts at an MSRP of $145,900 for the “Exclusive” trim level. That’s $43,000 more than the EQS 450+ and $20,000 more than the current EQS 580 4MATIC. No official word on “Pinnacle” pricing yet, but we’re estimating it to be between $7,000 and $10,000 more than exclusive features.
