Flight MH17: Court, judges to deliver verdict November 17

(ANSA) — THE HAGUE, AUGUST 15 — Dutch judges will deliver their verdict on November 17 in the trial of four men accused of shooting down Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 over the skies of Ukraine in 2014 : This was announced today by a court.

“November 17, 2022 has been chosen as the preliminary date for the verdict in the criminal case against MH17,” the District Court of The Hague said in a statement, adding that the decision will take place “part of the day and is expected to take place in the afternoon”.

On July 17, 2014, the Boeing 777 of flight MH17, which connected Amsterdam with Kuala Lumpur, with 298 people on board, mostly Dutch tourists, was shot down by an anti-aircraft missile over the skies of Ukraine in the border area with the territories of self-proclaimed republics pro- Russian from Donbass. The international experts who inspected the site and the wreckage concluded that the missile had blown off a Russian military base: a fact that Moscow and the pro-Russians fighting in Ukraine have always denied.

The defendants accused of firing the surface-to-air missile are four officers of the pro-Russian Donbass forces: Russian citizens Igor Girkin, Sergei Dubinsky and Oleg Pulatov, and Ukrainian Leonid Kharchenko. (HAND).
