He was with his beloved Doberman named Gilligan who was killed in a late night zombie attack outdoors despite emergency fences.
Joe buried Gilligan and in his sadness and loneliness decided to seek out a widow he had previously met online.
He grabbed his football helmet and got on a motorcycle with a sidecar to find Sandra [Kersti Bryan].
Joe was caught in a net by Evie while traveling at night and she forced him to wear handcuffs.

He later gave her blade sharpening advice at night and asked for her trust in Evie.

She revealed she was heading to Mount Pleasant, near Joe’s destination, to see her estranged husband.
Joe asked her for help locating Sandra, but left his motorbike idling when Evie discovered a key lead to her whereabouts.
Evie found a baby goat when a thief left a message saying “thanks for the bike” and Joe learned her gun wasn’t loaded when he tried to fire it.

Evie was now carrying the goat and did not find her husband but looked at some of his paintings including a portrait of her.
Showing her dark side, Sandra drugged Joe while accusing him of wrongdoing.

However, Evie did not give up on Joe and came to his rescue.
Sandra also attempted to drug her, but Evie, aware of her plan, fought her off.
The episode ended with Joe and Evie deciding to become friends and going with the goat together.
