The Ukrainian authorities have warned that despite the withdrawal of Russian troops from Kyiv and ChernigovMoscow plans a new offensive to conquer Ukraine before May 9th, Victory Day in Russia.

Russia, along with Belarus and other former Soviet republicscommemorates that day to give up by Nazi Germany in World War II in 1945. From then until the dissolution of the The Soviet UnionMoscow’s Red Square was the scene of one big military parade which was later resumed in 1995.

According to the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Oleksey Danilovhas warned that Moscow is May 9th “a holy day”which is why the government of Ukraine fears that Russian President Vladimir Putin is planning an all-out offensive for that date.

“Putin has resolved to end this war with a victory parade. We have to understand that we still have a lot of battles ahead of us, we have to defend our country and I don’t advise anyone to relax,” stressed Danilov.

In this sense, Danilov has emphasized that the withdrawal of troops from Kyiv and Chernihiv announced by Russia is really a form of “reformat“Moscow’s strategy for”keep attacking“Ukraine.

Finally, the Ukrainian official has recognized that the current situation is not as “fortunate” as the country’s authorities would like it to be, as Putin “is not postponing” the country’s “destruction.”
