Ikea wants to buy back its furniture from customers.
Yes, you read it right.
The furniture retailer launched a “Buy Back & Resell” plan to encourage customers to gently buy used Ikea decor, such as coffee tables, wardrobes and chairs. Ikea will issue credit and resell the items in the as-is department.
“We’re buying it back, and you’re helping pave the way to sustainable living,” reads a statement on the company’s website.
The promotion will be held at 37 of the company’s stores, including Ikea’s two New Jersey locations – Elizabeth and Paramus.
This service is for used Ikea furniture that is fully assembled and functional without any modifications. However, there are many exceptions.
Non-Ikea products cannot be returned under the new program.
The furniture retailer, founded in Sweden, currently operates 52 Ikea stores nationwide.
