Ukraine and Russia will resume online negotiations tomorrow

Kyiv, 31 March (EFE).- Ukrainian and Russian negotiating teams will resume talks electronically tomorrow, April 1, Deputy David Arahamia, one of Ukraine’s chief negotiators, said in a statement.

“During the talks in Turkey, we said that a meeting between the heads of state and government of the two countries is necessary. The Russian delegation replied that a more coherent draft agreement was needed for this,” Arahamia said on his Telegram channel.

The delegations met in Istanbul on Tuesday to discuss a cessation of hostilities, humanitarian issues and other more sensitive issues such as the neutrality formula for Ukraine or the future of Donbass separatist regions.

The talks, scheduled to last two days, lasted just one day before talks progressed, in which Russia vowed to reduce attacks on Kyiv and the city of Chernihiv.

“What we solve in a week depends on the participants in the negotiation process. And we hope that the presidents of both countries will meet soon,” emphasized the negotiator.

Arahamia reiterated that this top-level meeting should not take place in Russia or Belarus, where the first rounds of negotiations took place without much progress and marked by distrust on the part of the Ukrainian side towards the host country positioned on the Russian side.
