Lady Gaga is set to perform at Grammys, but Tony Bennett will be cheering for her from home amid health struggles

Lady Gaga will perform at the 2022 Grammy Awards, which will be broadcast live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday, April 3rd.

The 36-year-old singer is nominated for six awards alongside Tony Bennett for their second album together, Love for Sale.

The announcement comes after the Foo Fighters canceled their upcoming tour and performance at the music industry’s biggest night following the unexpected death of drummer Taylor Hawkins on March 25 at the age of 48.

On Friday, Bennett’s son and manager Danny confirmed his father will not be attending the ceremony but plans to cheer for Gaga from his home in New York City.

“Tony is beyond thrilled, especially at the young age of 95, to once again be recognized by the Recording Academy alongside his musical collaborator and dear friend Lady Gaga for their album Love for Sale,” Danny told Variety.

He continued, “To have the album nominated in six categories including Album of the Year and Record of the Year is an incredible honor. Although producers invited both Tony and Gaga to appear on Sunday’s Grammys show, it was unfortunate that he was unable to accept due to his ongoing battle with Alzheimer’s.

“It was decided that it would be appropriate for Lady Gaga to perform alone to represent them both,” said Bennett’s son, 68.

He concluded: “There is no doubt that she will give an impeccable performance of Love for Sale, Tony’s final album. He’ll be cheering for them as he watches from his home in New York City.”

The couple released Love for Sale on October 1, as a follow-up to their 2014 Grammy-winning album Cheek to Cheek.
