WrestleMania 38 will be headlined by two former Adam Carlson Vikings players

On Friday, the Minnesota Vikings announced that the team had signed former Indianapolis Colts offensive lineman Chris Reed.

If the Minnesota Vikings want Kirk Cousins to lead them to success in 2022, keeping the pressure off his face with every snap will be very important. On Friday, the Vikings added a freehand player who can keep Cousins on their feet next season.

Chris Reed, Minnesota and the former Indianapolis Colts offensive lineman agreed on a contract Friday. According to Pioneer Press’s Chris Tomasson, the Vikings gave Reed one two-year contract.

With the Colts last season, Reed appeared in 14 games and started six of them. PFF ranked him the 38th best guard in the NFL (out of 82) in 2021.

Could Chris Reed end up as a starter for the Minnesota Vikings in 2022?

With the addition of Reed Friday, Minnesota is sure to have some competition for the right guard starting spot for the next several months.

Reed spent some time as both right and left guards at Indianapolis last season, giving him the versatility to play in either spot. But with Ezra Cleveland expected to remain on the Vikings’ left flank through the 2022 season, Reed will likely be in contention for the team’s starting right flank position this summer.

The competition for that right-hand sentry is starting to get a little tight for Minnesota. Reed was added to a group vying for the role that already included Wyatt Davis, Jesse Davis, Oli Udoh and possibly Austin Schlottmann. It also wouldn’t be a surprise if the Vikings added someone else to the mix from this year’s NFL Draft.

The competition is designed to bring out the best in players, so we’ll see if that stays the case this summer when the battle for Minnesota’s starting right guard really gets going.
