Levin was a personal photographer for one of the “leading Ukrainian news platforms LB.ua”, as he himself writes in his biography. The discovery was made after a long search near the village of Guta Mezhyhirska in the Kyiv region. The photographer traveled to Guta Mezhyhirsk on March 13, accompanied by Oleksiy Chernyshov, a serving soldier and former photographer, to document the aftermath of Russian aggression.

The two got out of the car and headed towards the village of Moshchub. Later it became known that fierce fighting had broken out in this area.
