Mark Calaway, the man behind the iconic character of The Undertaker, has finally secured his well-deserved place in the WWE Hall of Fame. He officiated the Class of 2022 and delivered an incredibly heartfelt speech reflecting on his illustrious career.
The Deadman thanked fans for supporting him through thick and thin. He also praised several past legends, his family, and most notably, WWE Chairman Vince McMahon. He received a loud standing ovation from fans and other WWE Superstars.
The Undertaker’s legendary 30-year WWE run began at Survivor Series in 1990. It was a time when over-the-top characters were the norm. Fans were more than fascinated by this mysterious being who possessed supernatural powers. The character stood the test of time and was wildly popular when the Monday Night Wars came around. The Undertaker was one of WWE’s greatest assets in the war against WCW.
In 2001, WWE bought WCW, marking the beginning of a new era. The Phenom remained a top attraction for a few more years, with its popularity increasing over time. He became a mainstream star and was one of the most recognizable WWE Superstars. His iconic WrestleMania streak became a major unique feature for The Show of Shows.
