UKRAINIAN CRISIS – This Thursday, March 3, France “urges” its citizens, “whose presence and that of their family is not essential in Russia” to leave the country after the invasion of Ukraine and the closure of airspace between Russia and Europe union.
“In the context created by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the application of international sanctions imposed on that country, increased vigilance is needed,” the French Foreign Ministry said on its website.
To address the restrictions of airspace closure, Quai d’Orsay recommends that its citizens “make their arrangements to leave the country through existing links”. A non-exhaustive list is available on the website of the French Embassy in Russia.
“We know there are far fewer air connections. We believe that people who have no absolutely good reason to stay in Russia should choose to leave, “a Foreign Ministry spokeswoman told AFP. Paris is also urging its citizens to “postpone any trip to Russia”.
This announcement is part of a reassessment of the situation by French diplomacy. On Sunday, Paris recommended that only “French people passing through Russia” leave the country.
