Alexander Romanov secures his future with the Islanders

Acquired by the New York Islanders on the day of the National Hockey League’s final draft, defenseman Alexander Romanov on Monday agreed to a three-year contract extension.

According to the Sportsnet network, the annual value of the agreement is $2.5 million. The 22-year-old skater made his debut on the Bettman Circuit last season.

Romanov was acquired by the Montreal Canadiens on July 7 in exchange for the 13th overall pick of the last NHL auction. In his second full season in the Bettman League, he had three goals and 10 assists for 13 points in 79 games while maintaining a -9 difference

The full-back was a second-round pick at the 2018 amateur auction, CH’s 38th overall.

Dobson and Bellows too

In addition, Islanders general manager Lou Lamoriello has offered defenseman Noah Dobson and forward Kieffer Bellows new contracts.

The first signed a three-year contract, the second a one-year contract. The Big Apple team has not disclosed the financial details of these new packages.

The 22-year-old Dobson has had his best NHL season. He had 13 goals and 38 assists for 51 points in 80 games in 2021-2022. The former Quebec Major Junior Hockey League player was the 12th pick of the 2018 draft.

For his part, Bellows hit the target six times and provided 13 assists for 19 points in 45 games last year. This was the first full-time season for the 2016 19th overall pick with the Islanders.
