Attack on Titan returns for another “Final Season”. The series’ latest entry, Attack on Titan Final Season Part 2, concluded on Sunday but was quickly followed by the sequel Announcement of a series part 3. Attack on Titan Final Season Part 3 is set to finally bring the anime series to a close sometime in 2023.
Attack on Titan’s original manga, on which the anime is based, ran for 139 chapters and ended in April 2021. The ending proved controversial and is not as popular as most other series. So it’s not surprising that MAPPA’s own narration of the story will likely deviate a few bars from the source material.
Final Season has 28 episodes so far, in the first two parts, and made it to about chapter 130 of the manga. With only nine chapters of previous material in the story, it’s unclear how many episodes MAPPA plans to release with Attack on Titan Final Season Part 3.
We also don’t know for sure if this is the end of Attack on Titan or not. While the announcement seems to indicate that this is indeed the conclusion of the anime series, there’s no telling if the story will actually end or not.
Anyhow, we’ll likely know more about Attack on Titan Final Season Part 3 ahead of its release sometime next year.
